Local Attractions

Hernhill - The local Village is one mile away, with a delightful 14th century village pub overlooking the green, serving a wide range of good food to suit all tastes, and for variety there are two more pubs within two miles, both offering good food.  

 

Whitstable - World famous for it's oysters superb fish restaurants and water sports, is just 4 miles away, wander around the old harbour and admire the timber clad fisherman's cottages, and hope to see one of the spectacular sunsets, with the sun setting over the sea. 

 

Canterbury - Five miles away, an historic city where the pilgrims have visited it's famous Cathedral for hundreds of years, take one of the walks around the beautiful old city, or have a punt on the river, go under the Weavers Bridge, with it's ducking stool, or visit the Roman Pavement & Museum.

Faversham - A well restored old Market Town, with it's Gunpowder Mill and barge history, walk along the creek, and see many of the old barges, now mostly used as houseboats, or take a leisurely lunch at ?The Albion?, overlooking the creek, and watch the world go by. Guided walks leave the Fleur de Lis Heritage Centre, and museum, every Saturday.

 

Perry Wood - 150 acres of one of the most attractive and unspoilt areas of woodland in Kent. Having enjoyed a day in the open air, visit the nearby "Rose And Crown" pub, with a great choice of real ales.

There are three bedrooms available, a luxury en'suite double room overlooking the front orchards and pond, this room is available as a family room offering very spacious accommodation, a double room overlooking the orchards and a twin room, which overlooks the pond. 

 

 Children are welcome, and a cot is available for toddlers.

 

All rooms are bright and pleasant, in comfortable friendly surroundings, all with colour televisions, and tea / coffee making facilities.

 

There is a separate guests lounge.

Area Attractions 

 

Doddington Place Gardens - Near Sittingbourne with lovely gardens including a woodland garden and an Edwardian rock garden. Open May to September, Sundays 2pm to 6pm, Wednesdays and Bank Holiday Monday's 11am to 6pm.  

 

Biddenden Vinyards - Open daily, except Sundays in January and February, admission and wine tasting free. 

 

Sarre Mill - Fully restored windmill producing fine quality stone ground flour. Open every day from 10am to 5pm. 

 

Belmont, Throwley - Georgian Mansion where you can see the superb Harris family clock collection and water colours of Trinidad by Cazabon.

Dover - Visit the castle and see the secret wartime tunnels and experience the siege of 1216. Open 1st April - 1st November, daily 10.00am - 6pm, 2nd November -31st March, daily 10.00am -4.00pm. 

 

France - Why not take a day trip to France, either by Ferry from Dover or Eurotunnel from Folkestone.

Rochester-upon-Medway - Visit the Charles Dickens Centre, open daily 10am to 5.30pm where the latest technology brings to life scenes from Charles Dickens. 

 

Tunbridge Wells - Experience Georgian Tunbridge Wells at "A day at the Wells" exhibition.  

 

Maidstone - Leeds Castle, where besides touring the castle you can visit the Duckery, the Culpeper Garden, the Aviary and the Maze and Grotto. Open everyday except Christmas Day. 

 

Chatham - Visit the Historic Dockyard where ships have been built for four centuries. Open daily end of March to beginning of November, and on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday in February, March and November.
